Geneva Airport Reviews

Geneva Airport was a 54-hectare-small field back in 1919. The construction of its first concrete runway took place in 1937, and the following year, several airlines had started operations in the airport. During World War II, the airport wasn’t affected, but proceeded on expanding its land area to 95 hectares. In time, Geneva Airport became one of the major airports in Switzerland. Now, let’s look closer at Geneva Airport (GVA).

Geneva Airport Reviews-insideThe international airport has several facilities; learning to get around Geneva Airport can be done with the information center located in the main terminal. As the airport serving the second most populous city in Switzerland, GVA makes sure that all passengers are well accommodated. Restrooms are widely distributed throughout the airport, while shower rooms are located in the arrivals and departure area.

Geneva Airport tolerates layovers, but make sure to bring something to lie on since the floors don’t have a carpet. Hotels located just outside the airport are also options for your overnight sleep. Customers can use the free WiFi of the airport, but it would only be free for the first 90 minutes. It will take 6 hours before a traveller could reconnect to the WiFi for another 90-minute usage.Geneva Airport Reviews-facilities

For travellers planning on buying some snacks or any kind of souvenir, GVA actually has a range of stores which sells chocolates, clothing, alcohol, books, cigarettes, and perfumes. Food options are a variety of restaurants and bars. Unfortunately, they are not open for 24 hours. Additionally, please be reminded that the airport itself is not open for 24 hours; operating hours are from 4:00 AM-12:00 AM.

There are several ways getting to and from Geneva Airport. Using public transportation, travellers can actually avail of the free Unireso tickets which are dispensed from the arrivals area. This complimentary public transport entitles passenger for a trip to Geneva. Alternative options are the free shuttle services and taxis located outside the arrivals area.

Travellers can also rent a car, but it will be expensive. If you are driving your own car, then here’s a better guide:

Geneva Airport Reviews and News

The Geneva Airport reviews are not so pleasing. Travellers are complaining that the signages and direction advices of the airport are misleading. On Skytrax, GVA had garnered an overall rating of 3/10 based on 123 Geneva Airport reviews. On a positive note, the most recent feedback are all positive. One reviewer actually said:

“I used Geneva airport for the first time for a flight connection. This airport is not very big. My experience was pleasant. The lines for security and passport control were not long. It took me around 10 minutes to claim my bag and to recheck in it again.”

Construction is currently being made to extend the east wing of the airport. It will eventually replace Pier C in the same location. The renovation project will start in 2017 and will estimatedly be finished by 2020.

Moreover, the airport had been continuously working on meeting the demands of their customers. We shouldn’t judge them by their negative reviews. We will definitely write a review after the development plan is finished.
